Habitat: marshes and shorelines

Height: up to 2 m 
Leaves: Similar to iris but with a ridge down the back.

​Flower head: A 4-10 cm dense spike containing tiny yellowish-creamy flowers with scale-like sepals and petals held at an angle to a long green bract which looks like an extension of the stem.
