Solomon's-seal, hairy
​Polygonatum pubescens

(meaning rhizomatous perennials)​​.
Formerly  lily.

Native to Ontario  
Blooms: April to July
Habitat: Rich forests 
​Polinated by bees.

​Height: Up to 90 cm
Flower length: 7-13 mm 

​When the rhizome is cut open, indentations are revealed that resemble  a signet ring and/or Hebrew characters - hence the common name. 

​Note: This species does not generally grow wild in High Park but has been planted in Hillside Gardens.  This specimen may have been an escape from the greenhouse.
